Hello hello!

I’m back. 😊

And before anything else, I owe you an explanation and perhaps an apology!

It’s been almost six months since I wrote this newsletter.

I didn’t intend to stop writing it. I certainly didn’t intend to “kill” it. But somehow, inertia + work + life + a little lack of motivation to sit down and write kept piling up.

One week became a month.
A month became several months.

And suddenly, I realised I hadn’t written a single edition.

So, here I am - trying to change that because I genuinely missed this little corner of my week where I get to pause, reflect on what I’m learning through journalism and coaching and share some of those lessons with you.

So… hello again. ❤️

Let’s get back to it.

🎙️ From the Journalist’s Chair

Some minds really do make you stop and think.

One of the things I’ve always loved about journalism is the privilege of getting a front-row seat to how interesting people think.

That’s exactly what I enjoy with Minds that Matter - a podcast series I’m hosting powered by Client Associates.

Recently, I had the pleasure of speaking with Vipin Sondhi.

Interestingly, our professional paths had crossed nearly 15-18 years ago, when I was filming with JCB India and he was the MD & CEO.

Years later, sitting across from him again, I found myself thinking about something far more interesting than titles or achievements.

What stays with you after all these years?

Our conversation touched on leadership, trust, relationships, integrity, the responsibility that comes with occupying the top job and perhaps most importantly, life beyond the corner office.

What struck me was how much his clarity and articulation had remained, but also how his generosity, humility and authenticity had travelled with him through the years.

It reminded me of something I’ve increasingly come to believe about executive presence:

It isn’t just how impressive you look when you enter a room.
It’s how people feel about you after you leave it.

That’s the kind of insight I hope Minds that Matter brings to its viewers - not just the achievements of remarkable people but the thinking, choices, values and lessons behind them.

Next, there was Global Fintech Fest 2026 - another wonderful reminder of why I love being a journalist.

Over two days, I had conversations with business and technology leaders from India and around the world, exploring everything from Agentic commerce and Generative AI to Graph AI, cyber resilience, fraud intelligence and changing consumer behaviour.

But beneath all the technology were very human questions:

How do we build trust when technology becomes increasingly invisible?

How do we create intelligent experiences without losing the human connection?

And as AI gets better at acting on our behalf, what should we be asking of the humans designing and using it?

I came away from GFF with one thought that stayed with me -

Technology is becoming more intelligent. Which means our questions have to become more intelligent too.

Honestly, this is why I still love this job after more than two decades.

The subjects keep changing. The curiosity never gets old.

👔 From the Coaching Room

Six months away from the newsletter didn’t mean six months away from learning!

Quite the opposite.

Over the last several months, I’ve spent a lot of time researching, designing and refining my work around executive presence, leadership communication and career acceleration.

One of the biggest learnings for me has been that -

Senior leaders don't need more generic communication advice. They need highly personalised work that connects communication to their specific leadership context.

Stop trying to sound senior. Start thinking senior.

One of the biggest mistakes I see professionals make when they want to project more authority is to change the way they speak without changing the way they structure their thinking.

They add bigger words.

They speak more slowly.

They try to "sound" executive.

But authority doesn't come from sounding senior.

It comes from making your thinking easier to follow.

So before your next important meeting, ask yourself:

What is my point?
Why does it matter?
What do I want people to do with this information?

Then communicate from there.

Clear thinking creates clear communication.

And clear communication creates influence.
